My obsession

OK, so its just music; CDs, DVDs, MP3s, etc.

Favourite Video of the Moment:

Tom Waits – Downtown train

And The October Playlist (Top Ten):

1. Curved Air: Their first two albums (hey, they are better than I remember – an, of course Sonja))Also, have a look at the great website http://www.curvedair.com/

2. Brian Wilson – That Lucky Old Sun: Wow! Its good actually better than Smile, best since Surf’s Up methinks! Really!

3. Cowboy Junkies – The Caution Horses: Soulful, laid back – how did I miss this when it came out?

4. Emiliana Torrini – Me and Armini: What can I say (me and Torrini?). Different and yet the same. More, and somehow, less. You can see short Emiliana documentary here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Emiliana-Torrini/15303028445

5. Elbow -The Seldom Seen Kid: Obvious choice I know, but truly good, maybe even great album. Worthy winner of Mercury Music Prize.

6. The Veils – Nux Vomica: A great, great album from the New Zealanders. ‘Not Yet’ is one of the best ever album openers. Bought it a year ago and have not stopped playing it since (a record – literally!). Also cracking videos on You Tube. Have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YowBKqrpJdc

7. Neil Diamond – 12 Songs: Well, well, who would have thought it? Mr Middle Age Ladies makes a great CD. The follow-up (Home Before Dark) is more of the same, but not quite so good. Good late night music methinks.

8. The Beatles – Lord of Madness: Perhaps curiosity value only, but there’s something more than interesting about these alternative and unfinished songs from the “White Album’ sessions (still my favourite Beatles album)

9. EELS – Live at Town Hall (DVD) – Wow! What a concert. Really different stuff from Mark Everett. And, while we are at it, his book ‘Things Your Grandchildren Should Know’ is superb – among the best by any rock musician – and currently being sold at HMV for £2!!

10. Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation – Sound Stage (DVD): Just like Zeppelin – perfect music for doing the chores: ironing, hovering, dishwashing, even decorating. Its a great performance from Mr Plant and a red hot band to boot. Turn up the volume!
